Rakesh Kumar is a hardworking farmer with a family of six. They live in an agricultural community in the heart of Saidpur, Bihar. While this area is endowed with fertile soil, producing rich and diverse crops, it is also prone to severe flooding. With these extreme weather patterns, plentiful bounties are not guaranteed. Small farmers, like Kumar, often experience financial instability.
Kumar’s struggles were not limited to an unsteady income. He was also faced with obstacles at home, as his house was in serious disrepair. Their rural brick hut did not have windows, no access to clean running water and had a failing roof. During the monsoon season, heavy rain caused severe damage that was expensive to fix.

Dwarika Memorial Charitable Trust was proud to provide financial support to Kumar and his family, enabling them to reconstruct their home. The new home has a better structure with a larger footprint, windows that have coverings, indoor plumbing with toilets and clean running water and a secure roof.

Dwarika Memorial Charitable Trust revitalizes communities by supporting affordable housing initiatives. By providing monetary assistance for the construction of housing, we are helping families like the Kumars build better lives.
